The EU might “act quickly and firmly” against what it deems “unwarranted” travel bans imposed by the US on five Europeans involved in fighting digital hatred and misinformation, an EU official has said.
EU Officials Condemn US Move as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders such as the French president charged the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the travel bans targeted figures who have been at the heart of efforts to introduce legislation regulating US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led coordinated campaigns to coerce American platforms to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” stated a senior US official online. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials joined the French president in condemning the decision.
