American Military Targeted a 'Big Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Lacking Offering Details.

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that US forces hit a "large installation" in Venezuela in recent days. But, the ex-leader offered no details on the exact nature or site of the target, and officials have issued no further comment from his camp.

Vague Comments Offered During a Talk Interview

"We just eliminated – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a major complex, where the ships depart from. Two nights ago, we knocked that out. So we targeted them very hard," Trump allegedly informed GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Implications of a Confirmed Attack

If a US military action is verified, it would represent the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense initiated a buildup of American military presence in the Caribbean region to disrupt drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The stated mission of the force deployment has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for weeks warned that American military units are prepared to expand the operations by hitting objectives inside Venezuela, a strategy that would theoretically require congressional approval.

A clip posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an explosion reportedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. But, the video or the facility has not been corroborated.

An administration official reportedly told a media outlet that the president was describing a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Current Strategic Posture

The Venezuelan government has not commented on the alleged strike Trump referenced. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from within the country regarding it.

The presence of US military in the region – a stance some have termed a maritime "quarantine" – constitutes the largest naval operation of the Trump era.

Officials have avoided from labeling the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that around 15,000 troops are stationed across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement current sanctions.
